What is poly aluminum trim coil used for?
Used to cover exposed wood trim on your home, trim coil is a thin sheet of aluminum that is typically covered with a polyester coating. It will protect the underlying wood by keeping heat and moisture from damaging the wood fibers in the trim.
Will a diamond blade cut aluminum?
Brass and aluminum are both relatively soft metals. So you don't have to go to the expense of a diamond blade to cut those materials. A good bi-metallic blade will work just fine. The blade material (or the cutting edge/teeth) just needs to be harder than the material you're trying to cut.
How do you cut thick aluminum?
Use a wood-cutting saw with carbide-tipped blades to cut most aluminum. Select a fine-toothed blade and don't cut aluminum with a wall thickness of more than 1⁄4 inch (0.64 cm). If possible, choose a saw blade that creates narrow kerfs (the notch or slot made by the saw).
